Agroforestry field agent

What was one of the most memorable moments you had as a volunteer?

Oh, too many... but I think one was when my friends promised with great joy to serve me a plate of fried termites after the first rain, and sadly (for them -- fortunately for me), they turned out badly and could not be served honorably....

In what ways did your Peace Corps experience affect your life and/or career decisions?

I've worked overseas for most of my career ever since.

In what ways did your U-M education, both inside and outside the classroom, prepare you for your Peace Corps experience?

Good education, plus I learned to drink beer, a required competency for working in Cameroon.

What advice would you give to others who are contemplating going into the Peace Corps?

Be patient.

What is the value gained from the Peace Corps experience?

An appreciation for my fellows.

What lessons did you learn in the Peace Corps that you carry with you today?

Peace Corps was my first job with a professional focus.
